Bulk carrier Tai An disabled in Sulu Sea south of USS Guardian

Bulk carrier Tai An suffered an engine failure reportedly on Mar 4 13 in Sulu Sea, but actually, earlier than that, on Mar 3, as the vessel’s Mar 3 AIS showed vessel’s speed was some 2.5 knots. Philippine Coast Guard mistakenly gave vessel’s name as Tan An Ha. As of Mar 5 vessel was disabled and drifting in Sulu Sea, some 75 nautical miles south of grounded on Tubbataha reef USS Guardian. According to AIS, vessel is operated by Turkish company, but according to Coast Guard, which is citing New Filipino Agencies Marine Inc., operator is Tan Ai Shipping, Fujian, China.Vessel was en route from Singapore to Tagbilaran Port in Bohol, Philippine, if we’re to believe Coast Guard and New Filipino Agencies.
