Tug Zeus managed to take troubled container ship on tow in the morning Dec 7, and started to tow her to the sea from the coastline. Crew meanwhile, fixed the problem, Burak Bayraktar restored power and resumed voyage to Bremen.

Container ship Burak Bayraktar in trouble off Texel, Netherlands

Early in tne morning Dec 6 13 container ship Burak Bayraktar reported to Dutch Coast guard engine trouble citing Dutch media. Vessel was in North sea off Vlieland – Texel, Dutch coast. Vessel had to anchor to avoid grounding, anchor dragged but later reported to hold. Latest reports say vessel is stable at anchor some 4 nautical miles west of Texel. Salvage tug Zeus (IMO 9130729) is standing by. On AIS map vessels’ positions as of 0500 UTC Dec 7. Vessels waiting for weather to improve to take Burak Bayraktar on tow. Vessel was en route from Rotterdam to Bremen.
