Ferry PRINCESS MARIA allided with icebreaker Mudyug, S-Petersburg
Ferry Princess Maria allided with docked icebreaker Mudyug at 2322 Moscow time Nov 17 13 in S-Petersburg port.
Ferry was entering port, escorted by two tugs, one fore and one aft, icebreaker was docked starboard at berth No 28. Strong wind gust pushed ferry towards icebreaker, ferry and tugs weren’t able to control vessel’s movement. After allision ferry resumed proceeding towards passenger terminal and was safely docked. Ferry suffered some scratches.
Icebreaker’s life and working boats were severely damaged, bulwark was dented and broken, deck also suffered some damages. At the time of an accident all the traffic to/from S-Petersburg port was closed due to stormy weather. An exception was made for a ferry.
