Major collision in Kiel Canal, m/v Siderfly grounded to avoid capsizing, Canal closed

At 0300 LT Oct 28 13 LPG tanker Coral Ivory collided with general cargo vessel Siderfly in Kiel Canal near Kudensee. Tanker reportedly didn’t suffer any damages except maybe bulbous bow, freighter got two big holes portside 3x5 meters, with ensuing water ingress. Freighter listed 45 degrees portside and was grounded at the embankment to avoid capsizing. As it is seen on photos from KN-Online edition, vessel is actually kept stable by tugs. Salvage under way. Kiel Canal is closed. Reportedly fuel is leaking from Siderfly, vessel is surrounded by booms. Siderfly loaded with fertilizer was en route from Brunsbuettel to Antwerpen, 9 crew is of Russian and Ukrainian nationalities. Coral Ivory loaded with fertilizer is en route from Brunsbuettel to Finland. 19 crew includes Dutch captain and 18 sailors of Russian and Ukrainian nationalities.
