Chinese freighter Cheng Lu 15 sank off Pohang, 8 dead 3 missing, Japan sea
Chinese general cargo vessel Cheng Lu 15 sank on Oct 15 13 in the evening some 0.5 nautical miles off South Korean Pohang port’s northeast breakwater, in a severe storm. Vessel reportedly was anchored on outer road, anchor dragged, vessel drifted and hit either bottom, or breakwater, it’s not clear at the moment. Rescue operation was hampered by adverse weather. Latest news said 8 crew were rescued, 8 confirmed dead with their bodies recovered, among them the captain, and 3 are still missing. 19 crew included 18 Chinese and 1 Vietnamese nationalities.
