French cruise liner Le Soleal refloated, Bering sea
A Statement from Compagnie Du Ponant dated Saturday Sep 21:
On Sep 19 13, at 21:00 (07:00 local time) the bow of LE SOLEAL, during her cruise along the coast of Russia’s Chukotka Province, came into contact at 30 to 40 metres with a sand bank not marked on current shipping charts.
On 21 September, she was released under her own steam, and resumed her journey.
LE SOLEAL was exactly 90 miles by sea and 26 miles NNE as the crow flies from the port of Provideniya.
Investigations carried out in the bowels of the ship along with underwater inspections of the hull immediately ruled out any risk.
At no point was the situation of a serious nature for the passengers, crew and ship.
