Largest longliner built in the US, Bristol Leader, damaged by fire in Seattle

Fire started in a galley of longliner Bristol Leader (MMSI 366820000) docked at Pier 91 in Seattle, reported local media. Firefighters arrived to the scene shortly after 0300 LT Sep 17 13, extinguishing fire completely some half an hour later. Some 20 crew left the vessel because of smoke, nobody was injured. Fire caused about $35,000 damage. According to the information on owner’s (Alaskan Leader Fisheries LLC) website, Bristol Leader is a 167 ft freezer longliner built in 1998. The Bristol Leader is the largest longliner built in the US and has also been one of the top producers in the Bering Sea since its maiden voyage.
