Sovcomflot product tanker Laptev Sea disabled after fire, China

Sovcomflot product tanker Laptev Sea got disabled after fire in engine room in the evening Aug 22 13, shortly after leaving Longshan Shipyard in Zhoushan, China. It is understood, that vessel was in shipyard for some repairs or dry-docking, and was either leaving after repairs were completed, or went to the sea for sea-trials. Vessel got disabled dangerously close to the shore, salvage vessel or vessels were immediately dispatched by Shanghai Salvage Agency, to assist the distressed vessel. In accordance with owner’s instructions, tanker was towed back to shipyard on Aug 26.
