Three Maersk container ships, stranded in Bremerhaven, are not Maersk ships
Three Maersk container ships, which are stranded in Bremerhaven since July 14, are not Maersk vessels, reported Maritime Danmark. Some time ago vessels went to an owner from Morocco, who recently declared insolvency. Painting and “Maersk” brand names have nothing to do with Maersk.
There are 41 crew on board of those vessels, consisting of Filipino, Russian and Ukrainian nationalities. German authorities decided to dock distressed vessels in Wilhelmshaven, until some solution will be found. Reportedly, crews are provided with minimum ofsupplies and don’t suffer shortage of fresh water or food.
Three Maersk container ships are stranded in Bremerhaven not since Aug 22, but since July 14, said Emergency Maritime Germany in a press-release published on Aug 26. Vessels are anchored on the road, it is understood that they are not detained, but abandoned by former operator or charterer due to insolvency.
