Hamburg Süd christened first ship in the United States
For the first time in its historry German shipping company Hamburg Süd has christened the ship in the United States. The christening ceremony for the 3,800 TEU container vessel "Cap Corrientes" took place on August 23rd in the Port of San Francisco. The container ship was constructed by Taizhou Catic Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Ltd in China and is operated between the Pacific Coast, Australia and New Zealand. Having the capacity of 500 reefer plugs, the "Cap Corrientes" is capable to transport refrigerated goods such as fruits and vegetables from Australia to the United States.
