BorWin beta undocked
This Sunday the huge platform BorWin beta has been taken out of its dock at Nordic shipyard in Warnemuende, Germany. The platform will stay on the quay during the coming Hanse Sail celebration in Rostock. So the visitors of the event will be able to observe the 35 meters high, 51 meters wide and 72 meters long platform this weekend.
The platform of 10.000 tons has to be brought by tugs to the installation location in Borkum, that is 125 km off the North Sea coast. During last two years 450 employees were involved into completion works. The platform-transformer will now convert the electricity from the wind parks in the North Sea to direct current and will pass it to the mainland. BorWin is able to feed 800 megawatts of renewable energy to German power grid.
