Vietnamese freighter Minh Tuan 68 refloated
Vietnamese general cargo vessel Minh Tuan 68 was refloated on July 1 with the help of tugs under own power, and returned to its previous anchorage. Authorities are planning to move arrested in Sep last year vessel to a safer anchorage. Underwater hull survey was to be conducted on July 2.

Vietnamese general cargo vessel Minh Tuan 68 was dragged aground on June 29 13 by tropical storm Gorio on Legaspi road, south of Luson island, Philippines. Vessel was arrested by Philippines authorities on Sep 7 12 for having an illegal shipment of Vietnam-origin rice on board, and is anchored on Legaspi road since then. Vessel is manned by a minimum 5 crew, their location unknown. Authorities said they started search and rescue, most probably they’re on board of stranded vessel.

Monday, September 10, 2012Vietnamese general cargo vessel Minh Tuan 68 on Sep 7 was detained on an outer road of Legazpi City, Luzon Island, Philippines, for having an illegal shipment of Vietnam-origin rice on board. Vessel was detained by Coast Guard inspectors in view of the results of the inspection. Bureau of Customs reported to CG the possible illegal cargo and required an inspection. Officials said Minh Tuan 68 allegedly intends to unload the illegally shipped cargo from Vietnam to Legazpi City. Along with illegal cargo, CG inspectors found a number of safety violations.
