Car carrier NOCC Oceanic suspect in hit and run, Japan

Car carrier NOCC Oceanic left Yokohama on June 22 13 bound for North America, but was ordered to proceed to the nearest Japan port, Sendai-Shiogama, as a suspect in hit and run accident occurred in the morning June 23, some 200 nautical miles NE of Tokyo in the Pacific. Japanese fishing vessel Yujin Maru no. 7 was hit by a vessel and broke in two. 8 crew were rescued, master of the fishing vessel is missing. NOCC Oceanic didn’t report any accident, but was figured out by Japanese Coast Guard as a prime suspect, and ordered to return to Japan. Car carrier arrived to Sendai-Shiogama road on June 24, survey carried out during June 25 found some damage in the bow area, which may result from a collision.
