4 Brits on board of restored Navy gun boat arrested in Senegal

Restored UK Navy Maldon-class gun boat Defender with 4 British crew was arrested in Dakar, Senegal, last week, for illegal entry of Senegal waters. The Defender and its’ owner, Mr. Enmarsh, hit the headlines in UK media before. In 2011 Mr. Enmarsh said the ship is to be used to protect shipping in Gulf of Aden. Then he claimed the ship to be a pleasure boat, and as such, Defender was briefly detained by Spanish authorities in May this year at Tenerife's Santa Cruz port. Finally, the ship was arrested by Senegal armed forces. Friends of Mr. Enmarsh said he’s a former submarine engineer, his colleagues are not former SAS or other special forces, either. Most probably, he either wrongly believed that he could get a contract from Senegal authorities to deter illegal fishing boats from country’s fishing grounds, or he was heading for Gulf of Guinea, to provide protection from pirates in international waters.  4 Brits on board of restored Navy gun boat arrested in Senegal
