Boxship Thetis D damaged freighter Arklow Rally by passing at excess speed

Four severed stanchions aboard Arklow Rally, two broken lines and damage to a loading arm and gangway at the quay of the Holcim company were the consequences of excessive speed of the boxship Thetis D in the Kiel Canal passing the inner port of Brunsbuttel on May 16, 2013, around 2 a.m., reported vesseltracker.com. Resulting suction effect moved Arklow Rally, the fore and aft spring broke. The loading arm of the plant was torn out of its connection to the ship, so the loading process had to be stopped. The container ship continued its journey towards Kiel.
