Hamburg Süd and Hapag Lloyd to resume the tie-up talks

May 17, 2013 at 08:00 by Svitlana Slavina in Container Shipping

The two leading German container shipping companies Hamburg Süd and Hapag-Lloyd will continue their tie-up talks. The last negotiations between two premier shippers took place in March and ended without any agreement and prospect for new discussions. The resumption of merger talks was required by city Hamburg, where the companies are located. That was unexpected decision as reported by Hamburg Süd. If both shippers will join their forces, they will create a powerful group with fleet of more than 250 ships and an annual income of more than 10 million EUR.
