Fire on boxship Asir, 4 injured, vessel disabled, Red Sea
Saudi boxship Asir suffered fire, presumably in engine room, early in the morning May 12 13. Vessel issued distress signal at around 02:40 LT, reporting fire and four injured crew in need of medical assistance. At the time of an accident vessel was some 130 nautical miles NW of Yanbu, Red Sea. Arab News reported injured crew were to be taken to Yanbu hospital by aircraft. Fire was extinguished, but vessel was disabled. Two tugs were to be sent from Yanbu to tow Asir to, presumably, Yanbu.
