Cont Jolly Nero hit Port Control Tower, 3 dead several missing, Genoa

Local media report say Italian boxship Jolly Nero allided with Port Control Tower in Genoa at around 23:00 LT May 7 13, while maneuvering in port are. Part of the tower said to have crashed, tower listed some 45 degress, at least three people in the tower died and several are missing. The reports presently are rather confused, some say part of the tower with some 10 people in it actually crashed into the water, divers were searching for missing people throughout the night. Some 6 people were injured. Number of people in the tower at the time of an accident is not clear yet, some media say there were 10 people, some say 14 or more. Emergency officials said they don’t know if there are some people trapped in part of the tower which crashed into the water.

Representative of the Messina Line said, according to media, that vessel was leaving port. After the collision Jolly Nero was taken to the berth in Genoa port, extent of damages vessel suffered unknown. Presently vessel is berthed, see the pic. What caused the allision, is yet unknown.
