Leopard crew released by pirates after more than years of captivity

The crew of Danish general cargo vessel Leopard, hijacked by Somalia pirates more than two years ago, is finally, freed, reported the ship owner, Danish company Shipcraft, on Apr 30 13. It is said ransom paid for the crew was some million or millions dollars. Pirates were demanding “unrealistic” sums, but finally, 2 Danish and 4 Filipino seamen were freed.

Hijack news:

Jan 12 2011 – pirates highjacked general cargo Leopard in 15 11 0 N, 58 19 0 E. Leopard IMO 8902096, dwt 1780, built 1989, flag Denmark, owner Shipcraft. 13-14 Jan – Turkish fregate found derelict vessel, pirates took with them 6 crew, 2 Danish nationalities and 4 Filipino.
