Freighters Katharina Siemer and Angon collided on Brunsbuettel anchorage
General cargo vessels Katharina Siemer and Angon collided on the Brunsbuettel NW Anchorage at around 10:30 LT Nov 24 in dense fog.
Presumably the Angon suffered a starboard breach with resulting water ingress and some oil leak. Both vessels detained by police and stayed at anchor. Judging from AIS tracks, at the time of collision Angon was under way, while Katharina Siemer was either anchored or drifting. After the collision both vessels seemed to be anchored, at around 15:30 Katharina Siemer started to move and sailed to Cuxhaven, arriving there at around 17:20 and berthed at around 18:00. Angon’s track is a maze resembling a minesweeper sweeping mine infested waters.
