5 crew of Indian LPG tanker Maharshi Krishnatreya died in a gas leak

6 crew members were poisoned by a gas on board of Indian LPG tanker Maharshi Krishnatreya on Nov 5 during repairing works in compressor room, reported Indian media. “The chief officer, gas engineer, bosun and three seamen were engaged in repairing a damaged pipe in the compressor room and were poisoned by gas”, said official from Indian Directorate General of Shipping. Vessel was en route from Mangalore to Dubai for dry docking, in ballast, at the moment of an accident tanker was sailing off Gujarat. Navy sent a helicopter with medical team, which on arrival found 5 sailors dead, the sixth was taken to Portbandar hospital. There wasn’t any explosion or fire on board.
