Unidentified tanker, allegedly m/t Shun Cheng, on fire in Gulf of Tonkin, 6 dead

Fire broke on board of anchored tanker Shun Cheng on Sep 29 in position 20-40N 106-51E, Gulf of Tonkin, off Hai Phong, Vietnam. 5 crew members and 1 firefighter died in an accident, 2 were injured. 5 crew were evacuated. Vietnam media reported the name of the vessel as Shun Cheng, Taiwan-flagged freighter of more than 3,800 tonnage, which is obviously a mistake, because there is no such vessel in known databases. Judging from the photo of the burning vessel it’s definitely tanker. Fire was caused by sparks during welding works. Maritime Bulletin http://www.odin.tc
