The Santa class is a container ship class of the shipping company Hamburg Süd. The class existing ten units was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & marine engineering in South Korea. The lead ship of the class, the Santa Clara, was delivered in October 2010, the other ships of the series followed by containerships in Bielefeld until June 2012. owners of the vessels bereederten of Columbus Shipmanagement in Hamburg is the shipping company Santa.
The ships that are in part under the flag of Liberia, in part under the German flag in ride, are less than 300 metres long and can load approximately 7,100 TEU. There are 1,600 connections available for refrigerated containers. The ships, which it currently (2012) worldwide have one of the largest capacities on cooling container ports, were built specifically for the South America trip.
The ships are with eight-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine of manufacturer Wärtsilä (type: 8RT-flex96C) equipped, their performance in the series differs. As the engines of the first four ships in the series feature a performance by 45760 kW. The engines of the fifth and sixth vessel of the series feature a performance by 41184 kW. Hamburg Süd employs the ships in scheduled service between Asia, South Africa and the South American East Coast as well as Europe and South America East Coast.
On the route between Europe and South America Hamburg offers ongoing freighter travel South also 49 days. A single and a twin bed will be made available for passengers.
