Guido, what program did you use for downsampling the image. I expected the images of the Canon EOS 5D a bit more precise. Is there any blurring involved ? Would love to see a tripod shot in full resolution for a comparison. The images have a high dynamic range although. This is noticable even in the the small thumbnails. We've done a lot to get the best quality out in all resolutions. Hope this is your experience too on this site. Just compare with shipspotting or vessltreckr (thumbs + fullscreen). Glad to see your images here...

Lars, that shot is about a >50% crop of a very poor contrast image. It doesn't do justice to the 5D2, but with a little care (and CS4), the full frame CMOS sensor is very powerful. My photo of "STIKINE" is probably a better example of what the 5D2 is capable of. I haven't seen any reference on this site about the suggested file size of submitted photos. I assume you generate the thumbnails from whatever is submitted, but do you really want 6MB or larger files?! Note: Since I'm usually shooting from a sailboat, there's not a lot of opportunity for tripod shots. However, fast shutters and image stabilized lenses do help. Hah! Guido
